Joan B Howard
Her love of art began in high school when she sold her first oil painting. While working full time as
an insurance broker, she found time to study art with artist Lee Hochberg of Yorktown Heights ,NY
and attend Parsons School of Design in the evenings .
After living in New York for thirty four years, Joan and her husband and their three Yorkshire Terrier
dogs moved to Florida for a life of retirement. She quickly became involved with the arts in Palm
Coast. In 1999,she joined the Artist's Gallery Limited as one of the co-owners and origanized and
ran the workshops for three years at the gallery. Joan is a member of the Flagler County Art League
in Palm Coast and serves as Director on the Board and Chairman of the Workshops.
After taking many workshops in watercolor and colored pencil the artist found that painting in
watercolor has opened a exciting way to a new creative path.
Joan has exhibited in juried shows and at the Charlestown Gallery in Rhode Island and the Abbott
Tract Gallery in St Augustine,Fl where she had a one woman show. Her art work is on permanent
display in the First Federal Savings Bank in New York. Recently she won a award for her watercolor
titled "Geisha Girls" at the Flagler County Art League's annual juried show.
